City Council Approves Updated Water Conservation Measures

A map of Lake Sonoma water storage

On Monday night the City Council adopted a resolution to reduce the water conservation levels from Stage 3 to Stage 2. This means that the mandatory conservation levels are shifted from 40% under Stage 3 to 20% under Stage 2 reduction in use compared to 2020 usage levels.

Many of the water restrictions will remain in place. However, outdoor irrigation on alternate days (even dates if your address ends on an even number, odd days if your address ends on an odd number) will be allowed. This is a chance to replant with drought tolerant plants, get lawn conversions completed, and repair / plant bioswales and raingardens damaged by or prohibited during the Stage 3 conservations.

Please continue to keep your homes and irrigation systems in good repair and leak-free. Sweep rather than wash down pavement and hardscapes. Only recycled water will be allowed for construction water uses. Please contact conservation@healdsburg.gov for more information.

City Implements Rate Increase for Garbage Hauling

Garbage rates in 2022

Starting in January 2022 all City residents and businesses will see a slight increase in their garbage bill from Recology. The new rate reflects the increase of cost to pick up and dispose of your waste.  The agreement between the City and Recology not only allows this annual increase, if justified, but details the methodology to determine how to it must be calculated.  This year’s annual increase to residents will be between 1.5% to 3% depending on the size of your garbage can.

A presentation was provided at the November 15th City Council meeting and can be viewed from the City website, if you wish to learn more.

Slow Streets Survey from Healdsburg 2040

The grassroots organization Healdsburg 2040 is conducting a Slow Streets survey to obtain feedback on recent City initiatives, including our parklet program and temporary street closures. Although this survey is not a City project, we support the goal of enhanced livability and improved options for cyclists and pedestrians.  We encourage members of the community to share their views with Healdsburg 2040 and we look forward to receiving the results. Click here to take the survey.
