The City of Healdsburg will be opening the Senior Center as a cooling center at 133 Matheson Street during the hours of 10 am – 5 pm Tuesday, June 30th and Wednesday, July 1st. All residents are welcome to come to the Center during these hours to take a break from the heat.
The Center will provide an air-conditioned environment to escape the heat and ice water will be provided as well. No food will be available and the kitchen will not be available to cooling center visitors. The City asks that residents only bring food that is ready to eat and does not require refrigeration. No pets other than assistive animals for handicapped persons will be permitted.
We also would like to ask that residents remember to provide protection to your pets during these high temperatures. Leave your dogs at home in a shaded area with plenty of water and do not leave them in parked cars – even for a minute. The temperature inside a parked car can soar rapidly causing heatstroke or death.
For additional information about the City of Healdsburg’s cooling center please contact the Fire Department at 707-431-3360.
