[ARCHIVED] Sept. 5 Sonoma County Public Alert & Warning Test

Emergency Alert Mobile Phone

On Thursday, Sept. 5, between 10-11 a.m., the County of Sonoma will conduct a test of the SoCo Alert system (www.socoalert.com), the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio system from the National Weather Service in the communities of Healdsburg, Geyserville, and Cloverdale. The NOAA Weather Radio alerts will take place countywide.

In addition, the City will issue a Nixle alert informing the community of this exercise drill.

We will issue further reminders of this exercise in the coming days. If you would like to hear the NOAA alert, we recommend that you acquire a programmable, rechargeable NOAA Weather Radio which carries the Public Alert logo. These radios range in price from $20 to $200.

Once you get a radio, please program it to receive alerts for Sonoma County, whose ID is 006097. The call sign for Sonoma County is WZ2504 and the radio frequency is 162.475. For info on how to program a NOAA Weather Radio, go here: https://www.weather.gov/lot/nwr_programming
