[ARCHIVED] City of Healdsburg Issues Declaration of Emergency Due to Flooding

(February 27, HEALDSBURG, California) – The City of Healdsburg has issued a declaration of emergency to help repair damaged City infrastructure from the most recent flooding and inclement weather.

City Manager David Mickaelian, who is the director of emergency services during disasters, issued the emergency declaration at 9 a.m. The declaration, as stated in the Healdsburg Municipal Code 9.04, allows the City to:

  • Make and issue rules and regulations on emergency matters related to people and property
  • Obtain vital supplies, equipment and other materials to help protect the community
  • Require emergency services of any City official or employee
  • Requisition necessary personnel or material of any City department or agency
  • Allow emergency-activity expenditures to directly protect the residents, businesses and property in Healdsburg.

The City’s water reclamation facility sustained several feet of flooding overnight on February 26. Once water levels have receded, the City will need to deep-clean and repair any damaged equipment and infrastructure. City Staff continue to assess other City facilities and property for damage.

The emergency declaration will be presented to the Healdsburg City Council on Monday, March 4, for ratification.
