On Tuesday November 13, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors awarded Healdsburg a $1 million grant to help our community achieve a vision of enhancing Russian River access and connectivity. The funding is from the Sonoma County Ag + Open Space Matching Grant Program and will be used as a match towards other funds that have been allocated for this initiative by City Council through the City's Capital Improvement Program.
The project will involve collaboration with Sonoma County Regional Parks as they develop a long-term vision for Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach, the community as you help define the vision for river access, and numerous agencies and organizations that have an interest in the Russian River. We are currently reviewing qualifications of consultant teams who would assist us in this effort, and hope to have City Council award a contract for this work in January.
We are grateful for the backing of Fourth District Supervisor James Gore for his commitment towards the Russian River and his support for funding this initiative.
