[ARCHIVED] City Hires New Assistant City Manager

Joe Irvin

After an extensive search, the City of Healdsburg has hired Joe Irvin as the City’s new Assistant City Manager. He will begin his tenure in August.

Joe’s municipal career spans 13 years and two communities: Sequim in Washington state and Marco Island in southwest Florida. He most recently served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Sequim. Joe has had held various positions in the Community Development departments in both Sequim and Marco Island, as well as in the City Manager's Office in Sequim. Throughout his career, he has built long-lasting relationships with his colleagues and the residents of the communities he has served.

“Joe’s breadth and depth of experience working in local government makes him the right choice for the City of Healdsburg,” said Healdsburg City Manager David Mickaelian.

“His skills and expertise will be valuable resources as the City continues to work with community members, local businesses, and other stakeholders to provide a sustainable and inclusive community for all.”

Joe graduated with a master’s degree in public administration from The Evergreen State College and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and resource management from California State University Channel Islands. Most recently, Joe took part in the International City/County Managers Association's (ICMA) leadership program. The program allowed him to study at the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service's Senior Executive Institute, where an emphasis on building high-performing organizations is taught.

Joe and his wife, Katie, have been married for 12 years and they have a 10-year old daughter, Michaela. In his free time, he enjoys boating, running, and playing a good game of cribbage.
