Cooling Center Open



In response to the triple digit heat wave, the City of Healdsburg Cooling Center will remain open during the Hours of 12-4:00 pm through Thursday, June 22. Center hours maybe extended depending on demand. The City Cooling Center is at the Healdsburg Senior Center, 133 Matheson Street.

The Cooling Center is ready to help citizens cool down during this extreme heat offering the air-conditioned relief and cool water during the hottest part of the day. Citizens are asked to bring your own prepared food as kitchen facilities are not available. Cool water, puzzles, cards and games are available for entertainment plus plenty of shade. Everyone is Welcome!

High or unusually hot temperatures can affect one’s health. People are advised to take the necessary precautions to prevent serious health effects such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke by following the tips below:

• Check on your elderly neighbors
• Never leave children or pets in cars
• Drink plenty of water and avoid very cold drinks
• Take cool showers to lower your body temperature
• Limit your exposure to the sun – stay indoors where it
   Is air-conditioned or go to a public place that is air conditioned
• Wear lightweight, light-colored and loose-fitting clothing
